Those who have returned from the dead
She sat on a thread bare sofa, eyes half-closed in concentration, while smoke from an incense stick danced and coiled around her. When she eventually spoke, she did so at speed and with an authority I hadn’t expected, “I saw your home” she told me. It holds a secret. This story, about the day we met a lady in Bhutan who had returned from the dead, was originally written for, and first published by, the Bhutan Tourist Board in 2025.
The Wildebeest Festival
Involving around a million animals, East Africa’s wildebeest migration is considered one of the great spectacles of the natural world. In this article we explain the what, where and why, including the devestating impact a cow from Italy once had on the herbivores.
The Spirit of the Yeti
In 2022 we travelled across a swathe of the Himalaya in search of the truth (or, at least something vaguely like it!) to the biggest mystery in the mountains. The story resulting from our search for the truth behind the yeti was published that same year in the UK’s Geographical magazine and now you can read it here. And, while we cannot promise that you’ll see a yeti on one of our Samgai Journeys Himalaya tours we can guarentee that you’ll return home with tales every bit as fantastical.
A Question For Mokompo

In 2022 we wrote about the area for the UK’s i newspaper. Let this whet your appetite for a journey outside of the normal.

Join Samgai Journeys on our Upper Mustang: Forbidden Kingdom journey and experience it all yourself.
